A french brand of high end design furnitures, for yachting and housing
Today, furnitures for yachting and for housing are considered independantly. In yachting, constraints like modularity, durability and technicity are pervasives while in housing, aestheticism and comfort are privileged. I wish to offer a new design, adaptable and versatile and make Krone the hyphen between those two worlds.
Anna was born in France in 1983, from a Danish father.
She grew up surrounded by Scandinavian designs in the Côte d’Azur atmosphere. She started to study architecture in Marseille, France, and completed her diploma in Brussel, Belgium.
Her grandfather, Strit Johansen, being the founder of Elvstrom sails with Paul Elvstrom, she discovered in her early age the sailing world. Today, her father Nic is running the Elvstrom sails business in France.
Anna’s architecture projects are strongly inspired by her Danish origin and sailing knowledge: raw structure, metal, wood, fabric. Bright and open spaces. A genuine architecture, sober and practical (functional), just like Scandinavian design (furniture) she appreciates.
That is how she conceived the Cube: a design satisfying boat imperatives by its flexibility and compacity (compactness, volume), as well as housing requirements like comfort and elegance.
In 2013, with her partner she created Krone, a design brand inspired by her architectural sensibility, for yachting and housing.
Krone combines the qualities of those two worlds.
I conceive objects the same way as I consider buildings (architecture) projects, I propose a volume which answer a function, I point out materials to give warmth, and I work precisely (carefully) details to give the project delicacy and elegance, refinement.
All the Krone products are handmade certified by highly renowned and qualified companies
Sail shades are made by sailmaker Elvstrom Sails France, which has privileged relations with the Krone company because of their origins. The concept of recycled sail shades was created by Anna Johansen. She imagines and designs each project, while manufacturing is handled by Elvstrom Sails France, a company that has celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2014.
Cubes furnitures are manufactured by a french company that has been specialized in saddlery for cars and luxury yachts for more than a century.
Bags in sailcloth are made in Menzel Bourguiba (Tunisia), by a sailmaking company which owns highly precise sewing machines that allow working on small surfaces.
And finally, their leather handles are also manufactured in Tunisia, by a company specialized in luxury leatherwork and cars interiors.
Krone certifies that its partners in France and Tunisia are serious companies that provide good working conditions for their employees.
